This fact sheet provides a brief overview of a study conducted by Statistics Canada on the health and education outcomes for Indigenous students who had participated in Aboriginal Head Start in Urban and Northern Communities (AHSUNC). The study examined associations between past early child development (ECD) participation (no ECD, non-Indigenous ECD and Indigenous ECD/AHSUNC) and current health and educational outcomes, and found that AHSUNC programs are having positive impacts on child health, education and resilience.
