This article aims to enhance understanding and action on health inequities by introducing a framework for transformative change called the Coin Model of Privilege and Critical Allyship. The model is rooted in an intersectional approach for understanding how systems of inequality interact with each other to produce complex patterns of privilege and oppression. The author describes the model and outlines key principles for practicing critical allyship that call for practitioners to recognize their positions of privilege and resist the unjust structures that produce health inequities.
