State of care: The ontologies of child welfare in British Columbia

This article calls attention to the state of child welfare regulations, policies and practices in British Columbia. It reviews how Indigenous families and communities have been disproportionately impacted and disrupted by government-sanctioned child welfare policies, which continue to be based on racist assumptions. An analysis of the provincial policy is accompanied by interviews done with Indigenous service providers and families who have experienced child welfare policies in British Columbia.
